As a University Hospital, we permanently carry out teaching and research activities that allow us to be permanently updated with medical knowledge; accompanied by students of medicine and other areas of knowledge.
Our experience, human talent and logistic and administrative resources allow us to carry out national and international research projects with the best ethical, quality and safety standards.
Our Research Unit
In our Research Department we promote, facilitate and accompany research and its dissemination in order to contribute to scientific and social development in the area of health. We seek to be a clinical research center recognized for the quality of its research and the generation of useful knowledge for society.
We carry out drug and device development research, our own and institutional research or in association with universities and research centers.
We are certified by INVIMA (Resolution 2011035725 of September 20, 2011) with Good Clinical Practices in Research and received recognition in innovation and research by the Seccional de Salud de Antioquia.
We have two research groups registered in Colciencias:
- Clinical Research Group HPTU
- GIMIEM-HPTU.
Functions of our Investigations Unit
- We establish the policies, operational standards and lines of research that guide research in the Hospital.
- We provide technical-scientific and ethical advice to the investigators in collaboration with the Research Unit.
- We review and follow up the protocol and its amendments.
- We ensure the development of the research according to the established criteria, attending to any difficulties that may arise and allowing the suspension of the study if the conditions so require.
- We previously evaluate all projects carried out at the Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe, under the established parameters of technical, scientific, methodological and ethical quality, considering the following parameters:
- Complete research protocolIdoneity of the researcher and his team for the proper conduct of the study.
- Information provided to the patient: Informed consent, information leaflets, diaries and patient questionnaires.
- Forms of compensation or incentives for patients.
- Recruitment, retention and adherence strategies.
