What is stereotactic breast biopsy?
It is the procedure by which the radiologist guided by the mammographer - under local anesthesia, takes a small part of the breast tissue lesion.

Does it require fasting?
This study does not require fasting.
General indications for the exam
- Do not take natural medications, anticoagulants, aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs; 8 days before the procedure, with prior authorization from the attending physician.
- Bring the request for the study by the specialist with all clinical data (medical order) and authorization of service in force and addressed to the Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe.
- Bring previous studies (mammograms, breast ultrasound).
Home care:
- Place ice on the puncture site.
- Consult the emergency department in case of inflammation or severe swelling and heat.
How do I claim my results?
The results of this exam can be claimed either in person at the Radiology service (floor 2, Tower B) or virtually through our online services available on the HPTU Mobile App or through our web portal by clicking here.
